Module 1 of 60% path

Vehicle approach mindset & safety

Approach every vehicle deliberately. Before moving closer, identify the location, lighting, traffic, cover, escape routes, nearby people, and whether the vehicle is occupied. Keep communication available and never let curiosity outrun officer safety. FIELD PRACTICE For vehicle-approach work, assess traffic, lighting, occupants, hands, cover, escape routes, and vehicle condition before choosing a safe position or calling it in. Use a concrete field example from the course domain without including unnecessary personal data. FIELD CHECK • Separate verified facts from reports, assumptions, and recommendations. • Preserve safety, privacy, evidence, and a clear handoff. • Escalate unresolved risk through the designated channel and record who was notified.
